Using sources as evidence in a paper is one of the most important components of writing a thesis paper. Sources and quotes back up your arguments and solidify your reasoning. More importantly how you analyze and interpret the quotes. This is part A of the TRIAC model and the most important. Your analyzing skills are what draw your readers to your side of the argument. Looking at the first quote used in paper 2 in the photo below. I’m talking about how we must become aware of gene editing. I then go into analyzing the quote, and I relate it back to my thesis. If you compare this to my “In-Class Exercise 2/4 post” (hyperlink). You can see that I dive deeper into the quote in my paper than I did compare Kenji Yoshino To Anne Hallward. You need to use signal verbs while you introduce your quotes as well. In this paper, I did not have the best signal verbs. As you can see looking at my first quote hyperlink here. I’ve learned more about single verbs and instead of using the phrase “exaggerated to us” I should have used “informed us” or “Educated us”. I used the book They say I say to learn how to use signal verbs better after this paper, and I believed that that helped me a lot.
